Can Hypnosis Help A Parent?
By Christine Clarke-Swift, MS, CI
Absolutely! I call it ‘Growing a Parent’. In our culture we require more of people to have a license to drive an automobile but we do not require individuals involved in procreating to have a license to rear children. Preparing ourselves to become parents takes courage, curiosity and the pursuit of ‘real life’ skills and knowledge.
In school you learn how to read, write, develop math skills, study science, history and art to name just a few. One glaring omission from our formal education, one skill that would make our lives much easier, but which we were probably never taught formally is personal relationship management. Our primary years in school did not include any formal skills in developing primary healthy relationships with others. While the aforementioned skills are very important in the “big picture” of being an adult, it is just as important to develop as a person for her or his entire future. The well-balanced individual, not only possess the academic skills but also has a well-developed emotional intelligence. As an adult we are confronted daily with emotional, physical, mental and spiritual energy deprivation. We can develop our emotional intelligence when we learn how to re-energize and replenish our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being.
One tool that can be used to replenish the resources we need to function daily is practicing self-hypnosis. We benefit greatly by taking a few minutes each day to focus the mind to help us function better as a person and ultimately as a parent. In practicing self-hypnosis we are able to have a greater developed relationship with ourselves, which in turn generates having a better relationship with others. Developing the self is an important step to growing as an individual and as a parent. You no longer need to feel guilty or ill equipped to be a parent. However after reading this message you are now empowered encouraged and provincially directed to be the best parent you can be.
While formal education history teaches us about our societal past and we cannot change history, we as individuals can acknowledge what happened so that we can adjust our current habits and behavior to improve our daily life.
Learning the tools of self-hypnosis allows positive suggestions regarding current behavior and lifestyle to be programmed into the subconscious to work with, instead of against the goals. What we do not acknowledge we will not change. This sounds simple however it is a prerequisite for moving toward the desired goal. Resisting this step will defeat reaching the goal.
Acquisition of healthy habits requires making different choices to provide the opportunity for the change. Learning new habits takes commitment, challenge and persistence. Once the need for change has been established permission for solution is generated.
Programs for learning the self-hypnosis steps to make healthier choices in life will vary in some aspects from person to person. Areas to address may include but not limited to, eating styles, emotional eating, exercise, sleeping habits, and reducing levels of stress.
We offer a free consultation to anyone that is considering the use of hypnosis to create a positive change in his or her life. The consultation provides the information you need to make an educated decision if this type of program is for you.

Understanding hypnosis, is really understanding how the mind and body work. In order for us to make a change in our life we must first know that something is not working for us. Maybe we are not happy and have a willing desire to make some kind of change to improve our current situation.
This is the beginning dynamics of making a change, not only possible but positive. We need to first identify and be willing to acknowledge what is not working for us, in order for us to make a change. We do not change what we do not acknowledge. In order for us to acknowledge something we must become conscious of what that is. We must know who we are in other words have a relationship with ourselves. Now that may sound silly to the ear, having a relationship with oneself
We influence our selves and others every time we take action
